COMMERCIAL MARKET

Super Sealed Units Specialists In Architectural Structural Units Including Walk On Glass & Commercial Units

SHOP FRONTS

A shop front is a literal window in to a world of aspiration; a space used to lure customers through the doors.Insulated units are a component part of any construction project.
  • Extra clear Low Iron Glass is useful in retail installations, especially where large glass elevations are used with thicker glass specifications. Low Iron Glass is infinitely more clear than its counterparts and delivers a more natural hue, enabling a clearer view through a shop front to the enticing displays inside.

  • Similarly, Anti-reflective Glass will reduce external reflections, even under high sunlight, allowing potential customers to focus on the products within rather than the distraction of their own reflection.

  • Glazed doors offer a clean, seamless look to the line of glass in shop front installations and can be frameless or framed depending on the design specification required.

Branding is an important aspect of any retail environment. The integration of a logo or slogan can be inscribed into the glass itself, maintaining the view through the shop front whilst advertising the company. This can be achieved by Screen Printing, Sandblasting or Printed Interlayers.

Digital Printed Interlayers, within the glass panel, can be used as a marketing tool and convey a message or advert in shop fronts where transparency is not necessarily required.

Glass provides the ideal retail solution, from the outside in, glass structures can lure customers in from the street, and it can dazzle with high-design mirrors and elegant glass shelving. Glass shelving doesn’t interfere with natural lighting within a retail environment unlike other materials which can create a barrier to natural light.

WALK ON GLASS

We supply for both internal and external walk on glass

The trend for using glass more innovatively in architecture and design is growing. Previously glass floors were used to provide a practical light solution to environments where spaces such as basements or windowless rooms had suffered with poor natural light. Many of us are fascinated and stimulated by glass structures, especially when that structure is a glass floor and the vista is some distance below, and today architects are using glass to much greater effect.

Supertuff offers:

  • Structural units of glass can be used to create walk on areas of glass for use in a full glass floor or floor light.

  • Multiple layers of Toughened Glass are then laminated together to provide additional structural support.

  • Completely homogeneous sealing of the material through active, two way mixing of the components

  • If the walk on glass floor or floor light is separating two different climates, a glass corridor connecting two structures for example, the Laminated Glass panel can be integrated into a horizontal double or triple glazed unit to maintain thermal performance.

  • In all Glass Floor structures, Low Iron Glass is recommended to reduce the noticeable green tint in layered glass constructions. Low Maintenance Glass can be used to reduce cleaning in high traffic glass floors

  • Specialised Fire Rated Glass can also be used on glass floors where a fire rating is required.

Optional anti-slip treatments available

At Super Sealed units we are focused on providing you with practical interior glass whilst being visually transforming. We provide Anti-slip glass for those areas which regularly become wet, so our anti-slip specification can provide the ultimate in safety and style.

WALK ON GLASS

Designed for a flush-fit and flat installation, our walk-on rooflights can be used for dramatic effect when set into your internal or external flooring. Our walk on glass floors are manufactured for both internal and external use. Not only does it allow for increased natural light to filter in, it also provides for stunning features, within homes and gardens.

Optional additional finishes include a glare-reducing tint, elegant coloured borders, opaque finish or non-slip textured glass in a range of decorative designs.

BUILDING FACADES

As Building Regulations Become Ever More Comprehensive, Thermal Performances Are Required Within Commercial, Residential And Public Buildings

The paradigm shift led by contemporary architects has seen notable growth in the importance of building facades. Strong glass values have given way to a recognition of its direct influence on structural stability, on the energy efficiency of the building.

Our curtain wall glass units create options for sloped and facet shaped panels to allow maximum light into a small or multi story building.

Due to rapid on site installations, we deliver directly to your required site for easy offloading.

SPANDREL

There are a wide range of glasses to choose from to meet the needs of any project. Spandrel glass is one such option.

Unlike vision glass, which is meant to be transparent, spandrel glass is designed to be opaque in order to help hide features between the floors of a building, including vents, wires, slab ends and mechanical equipment.

  • We offer spandrels in a range of RAL colours

  • Spandrel panels can be glazed within insulated units or can be glazed singly

  • They are supplied with and without insulation. Spandrel Glass can be insulated with a variety of materials to meet even the most exacting of standards.

Benefits of glass spandrel panels:

  • Concealment of internal structure or services

  • Provides uniform curtain wall appearance

  • Insulation options to meet most performance requirements

  • It creates a tint or coloured glass which matches the building’s façade

SPANDREL

An opaque coloured glass ideal for external facades. Retains overall visual integrity of curtain walling system.

BALUSTRADES

Glass balustrades have become incredibly popular in both commercial and domestic developments. Glass balustrades add drama to a staircase, especially when glass treads are used.

There are lots of opportunities to use the glass balustrade systems in your home design, or even commercial property.  Glass can be used independently as a frameless glass support or within a supporting framework to allow light to transfer between level changes on a staircase.

A frameless glass balustrade construction should be toughened or laminated, with two panels of Toughened (or tempered) Glass laminated together. Thus, making the construction not only structurally stronger than a single piece of Toughened Glass, but also preventing glass fragments falling onto the space below.

Glass can be cut and curved and manipulated to create different shapes and give the appearance of movement and fluidity to a glass balustrade.

For a stronger and safer frameless glass balustrade, we would recommend the use of a Sentry Interlayer within the balustrade construction. An interlayer such as SGP will create a robust balustrade that will remain in-tact in the event of a glass panel breakage.

A Sentry Interlayer on an external frameless balustrade will also increase the life longevity of the installation. Sentry Interlayers are much stronger and do not react to water giving greater life longevity to any external applications.

GLASS DOORS

Glass can be used for internal or external doors and allows natural light to transfer between spaces, or transmit light to different areas of a space.

According to BS 6262 all glazing deemed to be in a ‘critical location’ must be a Safety Glass, I.E. a Toughened or Laminated Glass. The ‘critical area’ is the space between the finished floor level and 1500mm above the door and adjacent panels.

To comply with safety regulations any glass used in doors and adjacent panels should be toughened or laminated.

Glass Units has been used in doors on commercial premises for many years but now Bi-Fold doors, sliding doors and large patio doors are all becoming a popular design aspect for residential homes, especially to the rear of the house. These large glass doors create the illusion of larger internal living areas and connect the indoor space with the outdoors.

Performance glazing such as Solar Control can be used to maintain an ambient internal temperature when using large faces of glass within doors.

For internal doors, or doors where no thermal or weather resistance is required frameless, single glazing is suitable. For external doors or doors separating two different climates double or a Triple Glazed Units may be more appropriate.

Where light transfer may be required but privacy maintained translucent coloured interlayers or sandblasted glass can be used to create a cloudy or frosted glass effect.

Fire Rated Glass can be used to provide a fire barrier whilst maintaining light transmission and vision through fire retardant doors. Regulations state that any framing used for the fire rated glass must also have a fire resistance rating but aluminium, steel or hardwood timber can all be used.

STRUCTURAL ROOF LIGHTS

Designed for installations both internally and externally.  Walk on glass panels can be used to increase the amount of natural light flowing through your show room or building.

With architects becoming ever more creative with structural glass rooflights, Super Sealed Units are able to manufacture to your requirements.

Our technical office team support all your designs and recommend new glass products to ensure you achieve the right G-values and U-values.

  • Structural units of glass can be used to create walk on areas of glass for use in a full glass floor or floor light.

  • A range of finishes are available from clear and opaque to decorative anti-slip finishes for those slippy outside areas. We provide Anti-slip glass for those areas which regularly become wet, so our anti-slip specification can provide the ultimate in safety and style.

At Super Sealed units we are focused on providing you with practical interior glass whilst being visually transforming. Our projects reflect our statue in today’s market.

STRUCTURAL ROOFLIGHTS

Where a controlled influx of light is wanted through a solid flat roof, a flat frameless rooflight can be installed within almost any roof construction to allow this steady introduction of natural light into the space below.

STRUCTURAL GLASS

The term ‘structural glass’ is a wide-reaching product term used to describe a frameless glass assembly where the glass is taking an element of the structural load. A structural glass floor for instance will be designed to withstand a walk on load across its surface whereas a frameless glass balustrade installation will be designed to withstand the required line loading in a perpendicular direction.

  • We manufacture structural glass up to 6000mm x 3210mm

  • For Structural Units used in large commercial buildings, we manufacture all types of glass, to meet your architectural requirements

  • Frameless glazing adds a beautiful aspect in building structures, as thicker and stronger glass are used for supporting new installations. As framing systems are not exploited, the glass is fixed into the building structurer using fixings. These fixings are generally hidden in channels ensuring you see a complete glass installation.

  • As framing systems become ever more obsolete, architects are maximising the use of glass to show beautiful facades. In order to exploit our unique machinery and skills in the market, we are one of the very few companies in the UK that can manufacture structural glass units at larger sizes.

  • We can create glass box structures which provide a greater scope for architects. Our projects reflect the work we do, see our case studies.

  • We manufacture architectural glass facades to architectural roof panels.

Examples of our work include, toughened laminate composed into a sealed unit, supported on all edges (stepped units) with elegant painted borders, with additions of self-cleaning and sandblasted processes, which provide a brilliant finish. To ensure G-Values and U-Values are maintained, we provide solar glass to meet architectural requirements.

The structural potential of glass is seldom appreciated: glass walls, doors, floors, roofs, staircases, glass box extensions, conservatories and decorative panels can all be designed with their own structural integrity using only minimal secondary framework. This is the area in which we excel.
