MIRRORS

Mirrors, along with lighting, create a mood. Mirrored Glass used as a decorative glass solution, can illuminate a room as its reflective surface gives the illusion of more space, producing a more inviting and brighter environment.
  • Today Mirrored Glass contains almost no lead making it far more environmentally friendly than ever.

  • Mirrored Glass cannot be toughened; the process distorts the mirror’s finish, however, safety film is applied to the back of the product ensuring that in the event of a breakage, the glass remains in-tact and is held together.

Mirrored Glass is so versatile when considered in design, certain techniques can make it look contemporary or elegant. We can smooth polish or bevel the edges to achieve the desired look and we can shape it, and cut-out too and a bronze or silver antique appearance can also be achieved using a specialist finishing process.

For those environments preferring a softer look, a diffused reflection can be achieved by using a sandblasted glass panel with a mirrored coating to the back.

PAINTED

Super Sealed Units is an AGC Certified Processor and we stock and supply the pre-painted Lacobel range which can be supplied as Annealed or Toughened Glass. Lacobel glass uses an enamel based paint which is applied at the float glass manufacturing process. As the glass is pre-painted, the glass can be cut, processed and tempered immediately, making delivery times a lot quicker.

The Lacobel range is available in a wide range of colours. Please contact us for more details.
  • Painted glass can be used in many different applications from wall cladding, kitchen splash backs to specialist structural glazing or to hide fixings. The technique, sometimes known as ‘back-painting, gives a solid opaque colour finish to the glass and is achieved when a specialist, cured paint is applied to the rear surface of the glass in two stages.

  • The colours available for use in back painting are wide, including any RAL colour.

  • This UV resistant paint protects glass from sunlight and penetration of acids making it perfect in a range of applications. It is applied in even thickness to the rear surface of the glass using a specialist spray technique. A second cover coat, in black, is then also applied giving it an opaque glass finish. Unlike coloured interlayers, this product and technique will prevent light passing through the glass making painted glass perfect for cladding. Once sprayed the paint is then cured to the glass with heat treatment.

Where the painted glass is to be used for decorative effect, such as creating a smooth coloured wall or in a kitchen splash back, extra clear Low Iron Glass can be used to maintain the clarity of the painted colour.

Back painting can be applied to Annealed or Toughened Glass at varying thicknesses, and can be used in various settings. This specialist paint is extremely durable being resistant to both moisture and heat.

SANDBLAST

Sandblasting gives a rough translucent or ‘cloudy’ appearance to the surface of glass which can deliver great decorative effect. It is also perfect in cases where privacy is a consideration.

To create the milky appearance Aluminium Oxide is blasted at the glass surface, at high pressure, in a specialised sandblasting booth. This abrasive material peppers the top surface of the glass creating a rougher finish giving it its cloudy appearance.

It still allows lots of natural light to pass through the surface of the glass and so does not compromise the available natural light within a building.

  • For decorative effects patterns, logos and images can be sandblasted on to glass. The designs are produced on a cut out vinyl sheet which is then applied to the clear glass surface. The area where the design is wanted is removed from the vinyl, and then the glass is sandblasted. The remaining vinyl is then removed leaving the sandblasted design in a panel of clear glass.

  • This process is commonly used for house numbers and names, and is perfect in commercial environments where businesses want to brand a building with an insignia or logo.

  • Sandblasting can be applied to Annealed, Toughened, Heat Strengthened and Laminated Glass and once sandblasted the glass can be installed into a double or triple glazed unit.

STAINED GLASS

Super Sealed can also provide the service to split and repair traditional leaded units. We also provide stained glass (coloured leads) as part of our service. Our customers add character to their units with creative designs. We stock a wide variety of colours and can customise to specific designs.

Energy saving is a big concern in today’s world and with the stained glass overlay being applied directly onto a solid sheet of toughened glass, this reduces the possibility of the cold weather coming into the home through the joints of the design. Modern stained glass can also be applied directly onto energy saving glass.

Our skilled team can make the required design for all customers.
